Silent / stoic on the surfaceĪlso included amongst these tracks is Shinoda's brand-new remix of his 2019 single " fine", originally written and produced for the Russian sci-fi action film "The Blackout". After the first chorus, Shinoda even switches it up with a brief rap verse instead of the expected singing, followed up by a double-chorus before going into an outro section. The production here features electronic breaks and distorted bass stabs paired with guitar chords in the background. As its name may suggest, this version features new lyrics and vocals from Shinoda that carry on thematically from the original. Glitchy beats also appear on " Already Over (Part 2)", which closes out the tracklist. It has virtually no reference to the original song at all, as the elements of "Already Over" sampled here are so brief and obscured that they are easily missed. The largely-instrumental result naturally resembles works by Boards of Canada or Telefon Tel Aviv, or perhaps the more experimental end of deadmau5' music. The second drop ramps up the intensity from the first, building to a noisy climax before most of the instrumentation drops out for a transition into the next track.Įasily the most radical and surprising out of the batch is the " Nothing's There Mix", where Shinoda veers towards an ambient downtempo mood with sliced-up piano and glitch-heavy IDM breaks. Later on, the more ominous " Reorganized Mix" mostly leans towards UK dubstep, complete with dub-inspired vocal delays, but Shinoda pairs it with his usual industrial grit by generously sampling guitar parts from the original song. It might remind longtime Linkin Park fans of various intros the band has added to live renditions of songs such as "Somewhere I Belong" or "What I've Done" throughout their touring career. The EP begins with the " Crimson Intro" version, a sparse and mostly-instrumental re-arrangement of the song with no drums, which builds with layers of guitar before fading out. The "Scream VI" single " In My Head" from earlier this year also appears on this EP, a song which features Kailee Morgue and which was co-written with Jake Torrey. There are five new remixes of "Already Over" here, including the previously-heard " Fort Minor Mix", which is a hip-hop reinterpretation featuring BROCKHAMPTON talent Dom McLennon. What do you think of this performance and how does it compare to the Sydney one? Let us know! Per recent interviews, Shinoda has already plotted out performances based in the UK and Japan, with one or more of them likely already filmed. There are more "Already Over" performances to come. The band tops it off with their own take on the extended live outro which Linkin Park have been doing at their live shows since 2007. With Veda doing backing vocals, Bobby Amaru steps up to do Chester Bennington's singing parts throughout the song, delivering a performance which has been warmly-received by many Linkin Park fans in the comments under the video. and, last but not least, Nate Mueller, who has built an audience of over a million with his drumming talent, and who is still studying music in college, on the drum kitĪfter nailing their performance of "Already Over", the band also gives it their all with a rendition of " Faint", one of Linkin Park's many signature hits.mynameisnotdrew, best-known for comedic bass and guitar shorts that he uploads to TikTok, is rocking the bass.Kennedy, guitarist and songwriter who began posting guitar content online late 2020 and has since amassed over 2 million TikTok followers, is on rhythm guitar Brazilian guitarist Mateus Asato, who has toured with various pop acts, and whose guitar videos on Instagram have gained him over a million followers, plays lead guitar.Nalu The Piano Man, known for clever piano mash-up covers, is behind the keyboard.
